What is a Backup Camera?

In a move that was made to reduce back-over accidents, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration created a law that made backup cameras, rearview monitoring technology, standard on future vehicles.

About the size of a button, the backup cameras are set up in a way that a driver will be able to see both people and objects in positions that would normally be considered blind spots. The camera will show the driver an image of the area no later than two seconds after the vehicle is put into reverse.

Technology like this is part of the ever-evolving future of cars and other vehicles, and are important updates that will continue to keep not only pedestrians safe but the drivers as well.
